OLEDB, a Component Object Model-based data access object, provides access to all types of data, and even provides access to disconnected data stores (e.g., a database snapshot on your laptop). OLEDB sits between the ODBC layer and the application. For ASP pages, ADO is the "application" that sits on top of OLEDB.
