February 5, 2008 - ASP.NET hosting leader, DiscountASP.NET, announces the integration of SmarterTools' SmarterMail APIs into their Open Control Panel. The Open Control Panel web service API library provides DiscountASP.NET customers with the ability to develop their own web, desktop, or mobile applications that interface directly with their web hosting account. "SmarterTools already provides powerful APIs out-of the-box with their SmarterMail product, so naturally we wanted to integrate them within our Open Control Panel framework," said Takeshi Eto, VP Marketing at DiscountASP.NET. "Our vision is to continue to expand the Control Panel API and offer our customers the choice and flexibility to manage their hosting presence either using our hosted control panel application or through web services and customized user-driven solutions."
With the SmarterMail API integration, DiscountASP.NET customers can now retrieve email account lists, modify passwords, and create/delete email accounts through web services without accessing the hosting control panel or the SmarterMail webmail client. DiscountASP.NET customers can activate access to the API library via their control panel and are assigned a unique Authentication Key. In addition, a Sandbox Key is provided so customers can test their applications without the risk of making changes to their hosting account.
