Yes, and we provide a secure database directory that is configured to disallow direct downloading of .mdb files.

It's worth noting though that Access databases were not designed for use on the web. We recommend migrating your Access data to Microsoft SQL or MySQL.

Every account has an alternative FTP address that you can use to upload your files before your domain resolves to our servers. So you can get started right away whether you are registering a new domain or using an existing domain.

Every account also has an alternative URL so you can view your site before your domain resolves to our servers. Perfect for testing your web site before pointing your domain to our servers.

You can find the alternative FTP and URL in the "Account Info/Edit" section of the Control Panel.

If you already own a domain name you do not have to transfer the name to us. You can continue the relationship with your current domain registrar and pay them for your domain renewals.

To open an account using an existing domain name, use the "Use an existing domain name" option in our sign up form, and update your domain's name servers to point to our servers.

At this time, we do not accept incoming transfer of domain management.

You must specify a domain name when signing up for web hosting. You can purchase a new domain name, use an existing domain name that you have registered elsewhere, or use a domain name that you intend to register later.

While we do support all traditional country code domains (.co, .tv, etc.), we do not currently support the new internationalized domain names (IDNs) that use languages other than English. For example, .рф, قطر., .இந்தியா, .新加坡.

Our current price for domain registration or renewal is $19.95 per year.

Domain registration fees are paid annually. When we register a domain name for you, we will lock the registration to prevent unauthorized changes and automatically renew it for as long as your hosting account remains open.

Private whois service is available for an additional $8.95 per year. Private whois service can also be added to any existing domain registration (private whois service is available only for domains registered by DiscountASP.NET).

For new domain registrations, your domain should be active in less than an hour. If you are using an existing domain name, your domain should point to our servers in 1 to 24 hours of updating your name servers with the DiscountASP.NET name servers:

  • ns1.discountasp.net
  • ns2.discountasp.net
  • ns3.discountasp.net

The time it takes for your updated domain information to reach all of the necessary servers on the Internet is called the propagation time, and the propagation time that you experience will vary depending on your Internet provider.

When your account is set up you will get an alternative FTP address and alternative URL that you can use to upload and view your web site while you are waiting for your new domain to be registered or your domain's name server updates to be completed. You can find the alternative FTP and URL in the "Account Info/Edit" section of the Control Panel.

We perform daily backups as part of our emergency recovery plan, but those backups are not intended for customer use. We recommend that you maintain a backup of your web site on your local computer, or use our Cloud Backup service to maintain multiple off-site backups on whatever schedule you choose.

If necessary, we can retrieve individual web site files from our backups, but we have to charge a fee to perform the search and file recovery. Also, we cannot guarantee that the files that we recover will be the most recent snapshot of your site.

Web-based email is provided as part of our service.
